Salisburys Chartered Accountants: 2017 In Review

It’s been a spectacular year for us at Salisburys Chartered Accountants in St Asaph. We’ve celebrated very many client achievements throughout 2017, as well as our own. Each one of our accountants and business advisers are truly pleased when our clients achieve success and it really has been a fantastic year for all of us. We’re so pleased to usher in 2018 and even more success, but 2017 has been one which has been absolutely thrilling.

We started 2017 on a high note when Sophie Haywood became a newly qualified Chartered Accountant with us, passing her ACA examination following 6 years of study and hard work within Salisburys, to reach her qualified status. Congratulations again to her! We hope that her first year as a chartered accountant has been a wonderful one and wish her very many more within our company.

In February, one of our clients, the Steve Mellor Accident Repair Centre, trounced competition on a national basis to be crowned Customer Service Score League Champions – beating out over 600 firms across the UK in order to triumph as the best of the best. Nothing makes us happier than when our clients are successful and we are so pleased that the Steve Mellor Accident Repair Centre has put the North Wales region on the map in terms of excellent businesses.

The Spring Budget was announced in March. We were delighted to unveil our 2017/18 guide which provides up-to- date rates, as well as an overview of the changes to Capital Gains, Investors Relief, as well as outlined any possible changes to your saving income and pensions. You’re more than welcome to give our guide another look right here, should you have missed it back in March. There’s still quite a few useful figures for your perusal!

Also in March, we were delighted to relay that our director, Jeremy Salisbury, was appointed an Arts and Business Cymru Director, joining six other successful company bosses from the North Wales region. Furthermore, we were honoured to have been nominated for the North Wales Business Leader Awards in April. Jeremy received further accolades when he was nominated for a national award based on his contributions to the Llandudno MOSTYN Gallery. (These contributions ensured that Jeremy later won the award in June!)

In September, we challenged Yr Wyddfa as a team with a single goal in mind – to raise funds for St Kentigern Hospice – a local hospice (right down the road from our offices in St Asaph) which provides much-needed support and palliative care to patients which active, progressive, or life-limiting illnesses. St Kentigern’s Hospice is a much-needed and appreciated pillar of the North Wales community. St Kentigern’s Hospice recently applied for planning permission to expand, to deliver the same high standards of care to more patients across the North Wales area.

When we heard that St Kentigern Hospice had plans to expand there was only one thing to do – each of our big-hearted team at the St Asaph offices donned their walking shoes to raise over 200% of our £1000 target – our combined online and offline donations reaching the grand sum of £2020 for the Hospice to put toward its future expansion. The day of the climb itself was a dreadful one, so all of our team should be congratulated for their very brave effort in the wind and rain, to make a tangible difference for a very good cause!

In October, we were so pleased to welcome two additional members of staff to our team, Catrin Williams, a qualified chartered accountant, as well as Peter Jones who joined us as a trainee. We’re sure that 2018 will be a year just as bright with their talents on board!

We were so thrilled as well to hear that the Steve Mellor Accident Repair Centre continued their excellent performance and won the Customer Service Score League Champions title for the second year running, as well as Bodyshop of the Year! Additionally, our clients Harveys New York Bar and Grill announced the location of the latest of their North Wales sites – creating 20-30 new jobs within the region of Pwllheli. The Tir Prince Leisure Group attained huge success in October 2017 as well – winning the much coveted Fastest Growing Company in North Wales title at the Fast Growth 50 Awards.

In November, we were absolutely honoured to sponsor the Arts and Business Cymru Tourism Award which was part of the Go North Wales Tourism Awards. Baravelli’s Artisan Chocolatier was the big winner, scooping the award for their series of contributions to the arts in their work. Very well done to them!

Whether your business is winding down for the end of the year, or whether your busiest season is ongoing, our team of chartered accountants and business advisors in North Wales are here for you. We’re here for the long term – providing business solutions to assist each and every one of our clients comfortably sail through day-to- day affairs as well as offer practical advice, guidance and action to allow our to expand their businesses and realize their dreams.

It’s been an amazing year for both us and our clients. We would like to thank each and every one of our clients for bringing so very many excellent business ideas and practises to the North Wales region. We look forward to a bright 2018 with this in mind.
