Salisburys’ rising star celebrates chartered tax advisor status and 10 years in the industry

Salisbury and Company’s Andrew Rainford is celebrating 10 years in the business by reaching the tax industry’s highest level of expertise.Andrew Rainford

Andrew has passed the rigorous Chartered Tax Adviser exams required to attain chartered status, and is now a proud addition to our tax advisors in North Wales.

The 30-year-old from Colwyn Bay sat four papers and two online assessments, and needed at least three years’ practice experience to pass the exams.

He will now become a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, the UK’s leading professional body on tax.

Andrew self-studied for the exams with our support and since joining us in May 2011 has handled tax affairs and advice for our business and personal clients.

His role is to ensure clients comply with taxation rules but it is proactive work and tax planning that appeals most to Andrew.

He said: “It’s difficult for any business to keep on top of the complex and ever-changing tax rules, and unfortunately we see many occasions when businesses and individuals pay more tax than they need, or do not claim refunds they are legally entitled to.

“By understanding the rules and planning ahead, I can give companies and sole traders more options and greater scope to keep more money free for running their business.”

Salisburys Managing Director Jeremy Salisbury congratulated Andrew on his achievement. “Gaining the highest qualification available in the field of taxation, allied to his many years experience in the industry, makes Andrew an invaluable asset to the firm,” he said.

“Our clients can have the greatest confidence in his ability to ensure compliance and, through planning, help businesses better manage cashflow and individuals benefit from tax affairs efficiency.”

Prior to joining Salisbury and Company, Andrew worked for the Audit Commission and then accountancy practices in London, counting the Wagamamas noodle bar chain and The Gourmet Burger among his clients.

He already had an Association for Tax Technicians qualification under his belt when he decided it was time to return to his native North Wales.

Salisbury and Company works alongside businesses seeking to grow and improve their operations, as well as those seeking assurance that their financial affairs are in good order.
